Books I started to read but could never finish:
Three Men in a Boat (Jerome K Jerome)
The Impressionist (Hari Kunzru)
The life of Pi (Yann Martel)
The Tropic of Capricorn (Henry Miller)
The Tao of Physics (Fritj Capra)
The Brothers Karamazov (Dostoevsky)
As you may notice, all of them are well acclaimed books stuffed full of literary merit, but failed to convince my fastidious brain cells to carry on till the end. Somewhat embarrassing to admit! Well, Atleast the last of the list, I hope to be capable of reading someday.

Came here via Indianwriting.
My own failures include
Catch 22
The Tin Drum
Roots
I try every year though.
I've read the other two, and yes, Roots was a bit of an effort. Havent tried The Tin Drum though
how could someone not finish catch 22 i wonder... and if brothers karamazov was such a drag... then how did u ever manage war and peace or crime and punishment... i mean most of them apart fromm mebbe maxim gorky are like that...tolstoy and doestovosky both are quite expansive and weave a canvas that is both wide and intricate...
i guess there are phases that u r in when things that u find extremely tedious you relate to and breeze through... i read most of the russian classics in the span of a year...
